Every few weeks I take a trip to our local asian market. We are fortunate in the Twin Cities to have multiple markets to choose from. I love how the various markets around town always have different produce…and different smells too (not always pleasant, but it comes with the territory).
This past week I saw that one market has a big shipment of dragon fruit.
Dragon fruit is a beautiful fruit that looks exotic and tastes sweet and similar to a combination of strawberries and kiwifruit.
I wasn’t even going to mention it, but I stumbled upon an article on dragon fruit that was featured in a recent edition of the Toronto Star. The dragon fruit they photographed is the yellow variety, while the vibrant magenta variety seems to be the only ones they carry in town. I sure would like to try the yellow variety sometime!
Either way, if you are wanting something that seems tropical and exotic, dragon fruit is a wonderful delight, especially if you like sweet and sour flavors.
Fun Fact: Red Dragon Fruit is a good source of Vitamin C!
