Free Superfood Recipes from North Atlantic Books
David Wolfe’s new book Superfoods - The Food and Medicine of the Future is being officially released today by North Atlantic Books. And to celebrate, North Atlantic Books has given us permission to give you some free superfood recipes from the book. There are a lot to choose from, so it was quite difficult for us to give you just a few.
Congratulations, David, on such a power-packed book that truly represents your life’s work to this point!
Before we get to the recipes, we wanted to give you a few resources to check out:
- Read our review of Superfoods: RFRN Review of Superfoods
- Grab the book directly from North Atlantic’s site here.
- Also, you can order a copy from Amazon here.
Now, on to the recipes!
Fly High Goji Berry Superfood Bonanza
- 4 cups of your favorite liquid (water, hot or cold tea, coconut water, or any nut milk)
- 3 tbsp. goji berries
- 3 tbsp. cacao powder
- 1 tbsp. cacao nibs
- 1 tbsp. maca, red maca, or maca extreme
- 1 tsp. goji berry extract powder (optional, but super energizing!)
- 1–2 tbsp. sweetener (such as yacon syrup, light or dark agave, or any raw honey)
- 1–3 cups frozen, organic berries
- 1 tbsp. hempseed
- 1 small pinch Celtic sea salt
- 1/4 leaf fresh aloe vera gel (optional)
Blend all ingredients in a high-powered blender until smooth.
RFRN notes: We absolutely adore goji berries, and we haven’t found someone who doesn’t yet! We make some version of this smoothie nearly every day. This is a very satisfying smoothie that keeps us going for hours!
Sweet Guaca-Maca Collard Wraps
- 3 avocados
- 3 tsp. maca
- 1/2 tbsp. Celtic sea salt or Himalayan salt
- 1 tbsp. raw honey
- juice of 1 lime
- 1–1/2 tsp. spirulina
- 1 cup sprouted sunflower seeds
- 1–2 tbsp. raw sesame tahini
Put all ingredients in a bowl and mash or blend in a blender to a creamy consistency. Stuff into collard greens and wrap it up! For an extra kick, add cacao nibs to the guaca-maca!
RFRN notes: This may be a little bit different than the guacamole you’re used to, but it’s a great example of making a variation on a classic recipe to expand your tastes. We wanted to share this recipe with you because it is so unique and tasty. Yum!
Spiry Salad Dressing
- 1/2 cup organic hempseed
- 1 handful fresh dill (stems and everything)
- 2–3 cloves garlic (depends how spicy it is)
- 2 tbsp. spirulina
- 1 tsp. Celtic sea salt
- 1 cup fresh spring water
Blend in a high-speed blender until creamy and smooth. Serve on a fresh, garden-picked salad for optimal pleasure!
RFRN notes: It’s great to sneak in spirulina however you can. There are some people out there who can eat it by the spoonful, but we’re not one of them. We love the benefits we get from eating it, but because we are not protein burners we don’t need as much protein sources as other people might. Once blended into something like a dressing, spirulina can actually add quite nicely to the taste!
