I often surf websites that contain pages with great stories of raw food transformations. It gives me warm feelings as I see how the raw food diet changes lives of so many people. There is a common believe that raw food vegetarians are inclined to having osteoporosis due to a lower bone mass. It is true that those who practice a raw food diet have thinner bones with lower mineral density. The wave of raw food notion has spread much further than just a diet concept for us, humans. It should not come as surprise that animals can benefit from eating living foods just as much as we do. This idea was transformed into something that is now may be known to many pet owners as Biologically Adequate (Appropriate) Raw Food or BARF, for short. In spite of the odd sounding abbreviation, which hardly can constitute anything healthy, the concept of raw food for pets has the same goals as the raw food diet for humans. Recently more and more people have converted to home vegetable gardeners. And the reason for that to happen is not necessarily poor assortment of greens or crazy prices at the stores.
